Help Promote the 2018 Cattle Industry Convention

For those of you who don't know, my current day job is as the Manager of Organizational Communications for the National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA). What that means is that I manage our social media, website and monthly newspaper. As a result, that means that I play a key role in the Convention Marketing Ambassadors Program.

So, what is the Convention Marketing Ambassadors Program?

The Marketing Ambassadors program is an annual program where social media gurus and cattle industry spokespersons are given the opportunity to help promote the Annual Cattle Industry Convention & NCBA Trade Show. Seven individuals from across the country, representing the seven regions of NCBA's membership, are selected each year to take on the task of promoting the convention and encouraging folks to attend.

So why should people apply to become Marketing Ambassadors? Is it a paid program?

While the Marketing Ambassador program is an unpaid, volunteer-based program, it does come with some very real, very valuable perks. Selected ambassadors are given complimentary registration for them and a guest to the convention, a hotel room at the headquarters hotel, and a travel credit of up to $500. Those are the tangible rewards.

The intangible rewards include the network that you become a part of when you become a Marketing Ambassador. You get to participate in a select focus group of six other individuals with unique backgrounds in the beef and social media industry.

While I help to support the program and am not a Marketing Ambassador myself, I still saw my own network expand, and I had a unique opportunity to learn from the Marketing Ambassadors as much, if not more, than I think they learned from me.

Along with the network of your own fellow Marketing Ambassadors, you gain access to a network of NCBA members and supporters of the beef industry. An ambassador is tasked with being the main point of contact for all things convention with the state affiliates in their region, which is an amazing opportunity to build one-on-one connections with those that have chosen to serve the industry beyond their individual farm or ranch.

How does someone apply to become a Convention Marketing Ambassador?

Applications are currently open to become a 2018 Cattle Industry Convention Marketing Ambassador, so just hop on over to convention.beefusa.org and apply now! Applications are open through the end of August, and ambassadors will be announced September 1. Don't miss the chance to become a part of an amazing program (I swear I'm not just saying that because of my role in the program).
